Ford needed to get approval for Rockefeller. I think there were no provisions when LBJ became President so there was no VP for a time.
Looking back, I wrote my post very poorly so it was not clear I was speaking of Walz or whoever she chose. Thank you for correcting what I wrote. I changed my post to make it clearer. The point was that the Republicans would probably not confirm anyone, leaving her as VP. The danger would be that puts Speaker Johnson as first in line.
