4. Not sure that I see a point in psychologically diagnosing strangers en mass

Being in the closet correlates strongly with having lower income.
Being active in religious organizations also correlates with low incomes.

One explanation would be that gays of lower income are more vulnerable and more likely to need to share living spaces with homophobic people.
