It was Rudolf Höss who designed and built Auschwitz, turning an old army barracks in Poland into a killing machine capable of murdering 2,000 people an hour. Brigitte Hoess worked in sales at Saks Jandel, a fashionable women's dress shop in Chevy Chase, Md. that was patronized by noted women in the Washington, DC area. Hoess informed the managers, a Jewish couple, of her history. They said that was in the past. Brigitte was employed at the salon for 30 years. (Saks Jandel is not affiliated with the well- known Saks Fifth Avenue store).
