Chicago Bears start new offensive line [View all]

The Bears have traded for guards Jonah Johnson and Joe Thuney for a 6th round pick and 4th round pick, respectively. Johnson played for the Rams in 2024, but only for two games. Before 2024 he played for the Lions, so Ben Johnson knows him well. Joe Thuney, a four time pro-bowler has been at Kansas City for the last three seasons, and prior to that he played with Carolina. Thuney is a nine year pro; he has missed just two starts.

Both these guys have demonstrated they can play football if healthy. But Johnson missed almost the entire last season and Thuney is 32. So right now, this appears to me to be a stop-gap and a prayer. But at least they're working on the problem, ahead of free agency which starts Monday.
