Woohoo. He took a team that was in the playoffs two years ago (rallied by QB Derek Carr after the Rush car wreck deaths and the Gruden racist debacle), and the team became a loser, 9-25, for the year and half he was head coach.
And btw, he not only benched Carr who had got the team off to 10+ point first half leads in 6 games only to see McDaniels' defense lose those games in the second half, as I said, he not only benched Carr, he sent him home, out of the building and made him the scapegoat for the team losing.
I was saying last year after he did that to Carr that McDaniels was a sorry coach and needed to go. Mark Davis finally got it an fired him, the OC coordinator and the GM in the middle of the night last night after the team's inept showing on Monday Night Football. It was embarrassing and the whole nation saw it.
Oh, and the "great" QB pick up McDaniels bought in, Garapallo and the OC coordinator, couldn't figure out how to get the ball to the best receiver in the league, Devante Adams.
That pair also got rid of Darren Waller, a standout tight end, wouldn't pay their league-leading running back Josh Jacobs who held out and didn't get pre-season work, they just about disappeared effective slot receiver Hunter Renfrow from getting targeted in the games...they just all together screwed up and didn't know what the hell they were doing.
McDaniels failed in Denver as a HC (riding his rep as OC with the Patriots, but it shows clearly now that anybody could appear to be good when Tom Brady was your QB, even Bill Belichick.
I say kudos to Mark Davis for this decisive move...this from a long-time Raider fan who goes all the way back the glory days of the Mad Bomber, Ken Stabler, Cliff Branch, Jack Tatum, the Mad Stork, Jim Plunkett, Marcus Allen, Ben Davidson and all the great players when the franchise was one of the great ones, went to 5 Super Bowls and won 3.
