10. Fresh brussels sprouts are amazing!

One year, I was coming back from Monterey the day before I hosted a large Thanksgiving dinner. We stopped at a farm stand and bought a stalk of Brussels sprouts, which had been in the field minutes earlier. I cooked them very simply, just slicing them off the stalk into boiling salted water. People fought over them, the vegetarians claiming they were entitled to more.

Now the only way I'll eat Brussels sprouts is right off the stalk
