MRI on shoulder about six months ago showed supraspinatus tendon completely severed, infraspinatus tendon nearly severed, and both of those two portions of the rotator cuff atrophied 90%, all due to an injury in the weight room about 12 years ago. AND, the right bicep long head tendon nearly severed, plus spurs in the shoulder joint.

Orthopedic surgeon expressed surprise I could even lift my arm.

This time last year I was working on bench press with a bare bar (45 lbs), all I could do due to pain. Today I bench pressed 175 six reps.

There is no hope for the torn muscles "window of opportunity for repair closed about 10 years ago", so I manage the pain with OTC stuff (arthritis strength stuff), various ointments, and a heating pad. Surgery could clean up the joint, but no guarantee the pain would go away.

Oh, and the guy who spotted for me today benched 185, but he's more experienced than I am. He's 80, and I am still a youthful 70.
