On Saturday, US President Trump suggested that Palestinians be expelled from the Gaza Strip to "clean out" the territory. Trump called the Gaza Strip a "demolition site" and that ethnically cleansing Palestinians from the enclave could be a temporary or a long-term arrangement. President Trump said he had spoken to Jordanian King Abdullah about Jordan taking in Palestinians, and that he would speak to Egyptian President el-Sissi on Sunday for Egypt to do the same. Trump's "clean out" remarks have stirred controversy, as any forced expulsion of Palestinians would violate international law and jeopardize the creation of a Palestinian state.
