than opposing a generally bad and harmful policy or procedure on the face of it, Republicans petition for an exemption or carve-out so that they or their constituents are protected from the bad outcomes. Never mind what happens to those other people. It's lack of empathy and avoidance of consequences, as well ... a hallmark of Republican and MAGA thinking.
