8. I finally gave up

I put the SSD back in my old computer and loaded 14.04 on it.
I worked for two days and mostly nights trying to get the new computer to load ubuntu or mint. I could get the program to install but never could get the bios to let me boot to it. I must have tried at least a couple dozen or more times, installing this then that. 12.04, 12.10 and three different versions of mint 14, 15 and 16. I gave up said the hell with it. Since ubuntu 8.04 I've put one of the linux versions on more computers than I can count and not once did I have a problem. Not just Ubuntu and its variants either but other distros too. Haven't been able to do UEFI though. I'm still looking to retire my old dell and upgrade to an i5 based system. I don't think the processor is the problem I think its the chipset. I've tried on 85 and 87 without any luck, all being intel motherboards. Next time I'll make sure I get a different one.

I'd like to use the 4th gen i5 processor if possible. If you or anyone else can point me in a direction to do that I'd greatly appreciate it.
