BUT

i decided to just go for the corded version of the headset, much easier and cheaper then messing with all the bluetooth stuff.

i bought a splitter for RCA audio and another one HDMI, the HDMI then goes through an HDMI to RCA converter cable, and i route them both to a switch that has an RCA audio output which is converted from RCA audio to 3.5mm jack for the headset. i can turn the switch to accept input from the HDMI coming from the DVD player or the RCA coming from the cable box.
