I wrote this (and far too much more) in response to another DUer who was defending Labour's wishy-washy response to Brexit in "left-wing" terms back in June 2017:

Now, how much Brexit has to do directly with the shitstream in our rivers and on our coasts is up for debate, as these crappy problems have been brewing for a long time, even while we were in the EU, but it now looks like we're now going to be at the mercy of - God help us - Liz Truss and the hoary cabal she gathers around her to address the problems without a supra-governmental body to apply added pressure.
