5. They were Progressive Conservatives back in the mid to late 20th Century.

They are the Conservative Party of Canada. Basically a populist conservative party split the PCs in the 1990s and they were out of power for a while. Then they merged. The rightwing in the US had no patience for the word Progressive I am sure. Now the Conservatives try the odd Trump play and get tortured by the public in most of canada. Kenney of Alberta had to back down from allowing people, two weeks ago, diagnosed with an active covid infection from mixing freely with the public. So they try to be Trump and then retreat. Right now there is a federal election and the Conservatives came out spending money like crazy on government programs. So that is their play now. That being said the Conservatives in Nova Scotia just won a provincial election yesterday. Their win was based on healthcare and big spending to fix it. Ford in Ontario ran as a populist and after strong arming education cuts was hated after a year in power. He's stuck himself like glue to Trudeau on Covid policy to try and be popular again. This dirty "Invoice" trick will not help him. But the election to watch right now is the federal one. Ontario election is not this year. When they were called the PCs they were sincere in wanting to win elections with union votes. Then Reagan came along and our Conservatives handed their brains, and worse hearts, to the GOP. I voted for the PCs in my first election because I fell for the debt propaganda my father fell for too. We had both been Liberals all our lives.
