1. One has to remember that the Motorola Nextel was the main problem with public service radio during 911 in NYC

The Nextel cellular service used the same frequencies as the Motorola Fire and police radios. When the attack happened people got on the cell phones thus there was very little bandwidth available for the fire and police radio system. Cellular telephones were never authorized for those frequencies. But Motorola being Motorola, they got away with it.
