After his shameful outburst he got a very credible opponent - an Iraq War veteran who ran a middle-of-the-road campaign. Wilson set a record for the amount of money raised in a SC US House race (I think I recall that over 70% was from out of state) and won by about 10%, and then beat the same guy worse the next time.

You sign up for his call, submit questions in advance and then, at 6 PM one night your phone rings and you get to hear the asshole answer whatever he deems to be the softest questions, like "Are you as awesome as Donald Trump, or is he just the awesomest person to ever live?"

This bastard is my Congressman. When he had a close election some time back they redrew his district so it goes from Columbia in the middle of the state to take in Aiken County on the Georgia state line, which is very conservative and has a lot of retirees, and all the way down to Hilton Head. Since then, he is unbeatable.

On edit: Based on state voting patterns (usually 55-45 Repub), if we had equitable districting SC would elect 4 Rs and 3 Ds; instead, 6 Rs are locked in and Jim Clyburn's district encompasses parts of downtown Charleston and downtown Columbia to pack as many minority voters as possible into that one district and protect the other 6.
