23. The middle ground!

Trump goes off the wall in several important ways: outright treason and lies to control elections. Crazy talk. Rant. So. They don't want Trump to look bad! How do they sanitize this as a dignified official statement and not offend Trump by not airing the whole speech. And of course, the American people they are betraying daily. The middle looks like razor blades on the fulcrum of a teeter totter all of their own making. They have a LOT more to sweat out than simple sane-washing, especially if Trump goes crazy, illegally extreme- then vengeful.

BTW all the news media go to jail eventually if things keep sliding this insanely criminal way. But the worries of the day mean they can breathe a sigh of relief if tonight goes off quietly, and Trump doesn't go Attila the Hun, blaming them for literally any result he doesn't like.
They worry much less about the actual criminality of the speech.
