If we do not support the act, the future commercials will be that the Dems want non-citizens to vote. I realize all the bad items of this bill such as the problem with married women. However, how about we support it but speak loudly about how to prove citizenship. For example, using a read ID as proof is not allowed which is nonsensical because the real ID proves citizenship. How about making birth certificate copies free for this purpose? How about allowing marriage certificates as proof (again not allowed under the legislation)? How about making passports free for this purpose? If we address the law from the angle of what is acceptable proof, I would believe that it we can get some traction. Afterall, the law applies to GOP voters registering as well.
