Schumer says he plans to support the GOP funding bill, lowering odds of a shutdown

41. Watching C-SPAN this morning and this is the topic for the first segment. After several days of this, I believe that

Schumer found out in their private meetings that a sufficient number of his colleagues were going to vote against the shutdown by voting for cloture in the CR.

If Schumer calculates the CR is going to pass anyway, his choice became appearing to make an error in judgment, versus appearing too weak to lead the caucus. Bad judgment doesn't get him quickly removed as Senate Democratic Leader. It buys HIM time because his next election isn't until 2028.

Here's how I see the ethical dilemma - his choice was what he thought was best, Chuck Schumer over what's best for the country.

And no, I also don't believe his colleagues will immediately remove him from leadership because. Not because they shouldn't, but because of the optics and how they would reflect us in complete disarray.
