(7,438 posts)but it is the truth that, for the most part, people get a bit more conservative as they age. By that, I don't mean they lean into the Conservative party or repubs. The fact the largest group polled before the last election who supported Kamala was seniors should show that we're not all fox heads.
But we're not as prone to taking risks with the important things in our lives... like our family, our job, etc. I'm sorry to say that Schumer needs to go... and go right now... and allow some fresh, risk-taking blood to stand tall in his place. Schumer is too old for that position. It used to be statesmen who reached that age and rank were rewarded because of their intelligence and wisdom based on years in the party. Schumer missed a step or 3, IMO.
I'm not saying throw out everyone 50+ years old... I AM saying those in their 70's... and even in their 60's depending on their health and mental status... need to think whether they're doing more good than bad in staying. Our country is more important than their next paycheck or medal.
I'll admit, at 69, there's no way I could do half the job that needs to be done in those positions. But then there's Bernie. We're killing Bernie Sanders because he won't stop screaming and working for the rest of us. He puts everything he has into it, and he believes in what he's doing. If Bernie were only 30 years younger or so, he'd be unstoppable today. I worry about him... the pace he's going can't be good for him. But Goddess bless him for what he's trying to do for us.
Intelligence is necessary and good in politics. FIRE in the belly is even better.
