(165,543 posts)25. There were a couple laws passed in the late '90s and early '00s
dealing with "protecting" children online. We're sort of going through the same thing all over again with the social media apps.
In both cases, there was the push to throw up one of those "age verification" screens, which after all these years, are now being fought in court.
I know the First Amendment suits are already being invoked by the some of media attempting to push back (AP & CBS) and I expect private entities will eventually get to it if they don't have enough courage to haul off and tell 45 to f-off like Apple and Costco did.
