(366 posts)and, sadly, for some folks, that's all that matters. Obviously, many will ignore his baggage, his history, al the cumulative evidence of his poor judgement, and questions about honesty and forthcomingness, or understanding of basic history. His being blessed and chosen means more than actual qualifications, and more than having the best chance to unite voters in order to defeat a well-funded multi-term incumbent.
You ask a valid question... "can't he run for town council or something first?" --- Considering the questions and negatives that we already know about him, he's going to need to prove himself first. Politically expedient apologies for anti-LGBTQ jokes/slurs/rhetoric... and late-in-life tattoo cover-ups ring hollow and insincere for many people.
We can do better than this. He needs to withdraw now and end his campaign.
