I took that as a soft "no" to their CIC for issuing an illegal order, although Rutabaga Hitler is likely too dumb to realize it.

I hope rutabaga Hitler keeps it up. No dictator has ever stayed in power without the support of the military. He's too stupid to know that one, either.

The Marines knew the puppet-master was trying to pull their strings and they made an EXCELLENT argument to seek clarification. In effect, they were able to stall an insane attack on fellow citizens.
