The problem is that Bernie has never been a democrat. He has a platform to sell. It's called socialism. Bernie knows you will never sell this on the right. NEVER. And our society dictates that in order to win any election, you have to pick republican or democrat. Anything outside that won't win. It's just that way it is.
Bernie is truly an honest person. Therefore he decided to run as a independent. He does support most democratic policies. He does this undercover, as a democrat, come election time. A lot of people do not like that approach, and many have voiced that opinion in the past here. Their concept is, if you run as a democrat, you must be a democrat. Another issue that his policies are very democratic. If he were to actually be a democrat, he would be considered far left, because his policies are strictly about benefiting the people. He doesn't lean to the middle.
A lot of people that support Bernie are democrats, and love his policies. The problem was in 2016, and it still exists today, is the fact that you will most likely never convince 80 mIllion voters to vote for someone that signs on as an independent, running as a democrat. This is where younger progressive democrats come into the picture to take his word and continue on. Bernie is not going to run for president again, and is trying hard has hell to see what he can do to save our democracy, and stop oligarchy. I call this very patriotic. Not like people like Schumer that recently voted with the republicans. It just so happens that AOC is helping Bernie and is a very good progressive democrat. I see a good future for her. I feel that she actually cares about you and me.
I have always supported Bernie and his policies. Always did. Always will. If all the democrats can support a real progressive democrat for the future of this country, then I think we can beat this %$^ in the White House. Hey, nothing has worked so far, and I see no one else on the left making such an effort. We just lost 2/3 elections to the worst president in history. Somethings has to change. The same old same old will not do from here on out.
