(2,852 posts)And who will stop these people from being prosecuted?
Or inversely, who will cancel the Jan. 6 Pardons if a pardon doesn't mean anything?

(232,562 posts)I read the comments on this video and there were even comments from those in other countries saying this is an emergency, that he's insane and needs to be removed ASAP.

(2,852 posts)We are dealing with Caligula here. But who will remove him? There is no mechanism for this.
The founding fathers imagined an insane president would have a sane cabinet or Congress to address the problem.
I'm finally beginning to understand what the people like Bernie mean, when they say it's up to the people. I didn't see what we could do. Trump won't care about a demonstration--of any size. But this is about showing such overwhelming protest that the police and the military are willing to enforce court orders and not those of Trump. That is what it will come down to.
Rhiannon12866
(232,562 posts)They certainly never envisioned that a convicted felon, adjudicated rapist who stole classified documents and attempted to overthrow the government would be anyone's choice!

(20,281 posts)His megalomania is so severe that he believes he not only has absolute power in the present but also the ability to retroactively change what's happened in the past. Even Hitler wasn't that crazy.
Rhiannon12866
(232,562 posts)Against him. He believes he's above the law since he's already gotten away with crimes that would have resulted in a prison sentence for anyone else. What can be done to stop him?? We could stage our own insurrection, but this time he'd sic his own violent criminal insurrectionists on us. I fear he's recruiting his own private army - or getting Hegseth to do it for him.
BTW, GREAT animation!

(232,562 posts)He set a historical record for being impeached TWICE! And yet he has yet to serve time, yet anyone else committing the same crimes would and has spent time behind bars! So he's gone even further in his illegal activities now - to the point of disregarding rulings by judges...

People falling out of windows couldlbe a thing with Trump. It seems to only go one way.
I doubt in the end we will win this way, we need something more stabel and lasting. But it is tempting.

(3,907 posts)I put a plate of Oreos on the table and the little fart hurriedly licked each one of them thinking no one else would eat them. I picked one up, looking him square in the eye and ate it. He stood there making gagging noises, in total disbelief that I would eat them. Trust me I was not happy about it but I was making a point. Of course I told him that was rude but sometimes actions speak louder. I never had that problem again. So.. anyway, when T pulls crap like this I feel like he is licking all of the Oreos waiting for someone, anyone to tell him to knock off the bull because everyone is sick and tired of it. Unfortunately no one has ever set him straight! I think that someone comes in the form of world leaders standing up to him. Its odd that so many in Congress cant do this. The threat must be very pointed and personal. Calling the Supreme Court .you have created this monster fix the problem. He has more than stepped over the line.
Rhiannon12866
(232,562 posts)And he has been convicted of several crimes, but still believes he's above the law. What does it take?? Anyone else who committed the same crimes would have been behind bars long ago! What does it take?? He already made history by being impeached twice, but Republicans in Congress were too afraid of attacks on themselves or their families or of being primaried to find him guilty. World leaders are more courageous than our own Congress - Republicans are afraid of even facing their constituents which is well deserved since they have chosen a schoolyard bully over the constituents they were elected to represent.

(3,907 posts)Globally they are simply sick of him pulling $hit. That to me is our only hope!
Rhiannon12866
(232,562 posts)On him. But he doesn't care, he now views even them as enemies. Sad that our global allies are more incensed than American Republicans at his illegal and unprecedented attacks and threats.

(232,562 posts)But who will remove him? He's already made history as a convicted felon and was impeached twice - with Republicans too afraid to find him guilty even though they experienced the horror of January 6th the same as Democrats did.

(719 posts)to look for what he's actually trying to distract us from seeing or what topic he's trying to knock off of the front page. Such as his total disregard of a legitimately enforceable court order. As opposed to those that can't be enforced .

(161,818 posts)Donald Trump doesnt have the authority to invalidate Joe Bidens pardons. The Republican is apparently simply asserting the right anyway.

Link to tweet
https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/maddowblog/trump-says-s-invalidating-biden-pardons-claiming-power-doesnt-rcna196671
The entire pitch is based on the presidents apparent belief that (a) his immediate predecessor used an autopen to sign the pardons; (b) documents signed by autopens dont count; and (c) Biden suffered from mental deterioration to such a horrific degree that he wasnt aware of his own policies and preferences.
The first point is dubious, given that theres no evidence that Biden used the tool to issue the pardons; the second point appears unsupported by law; and the third point is offensive on its face.
But lets also not lose sight of the forest for the trees: For the first time in American history, a sitting president is asserting the right to invalidate a predecessors pardons.
In other words, as the United States deals with a sustained offensive against the rule of law, Trump has made up a new power for himself that does not exist.
To be sure, theres often a disconnect between what Trump says hes doing and what hes actually doing. The Republican has now claimed in writing that hes voiding some Biden-era pardons, but given recent history, its entirely possible that in the coming hours and days, the White House will pretend he never actually published such a message. Perhaps, in other words, this radicalism will soon be forgotten.
But if Trump seriously takes steps to undo Biden's pardons, because he feels like it, the coming fight will be dramatic.
Even though trump's full tweet was in this article, I did not include it in this post. I do my best to NOT post trump's rants directly,
I have seen that trump really wants to go after Liz Cheney and other J6 Committee members. If trump tries to claim that pardons he dislikes are invalid, it will be a fun fight.
