Trump screws himself & Melania with Epstein mistake - Another Day - Brian Tyler Cohen

BTC: A former president and his wife are testifying before Congress. Hey, Donald, careful what you wish for. This is just another day.

With the recent release of the latest round of Epstein files, numerous wealthy people in Donald Trump's orbit have suddenly found their close friendship with Mr. Epstein, which many previously denied, now thrust into public view. And you know what that means?

(cut to video from C-SPAN in Oval Office)
Trump: You know, when Epstein was alive, nobody cared about him. When he's dead, they care about him. But it's really a Democrat problem. It's not a Republican. It's a Democrat problem.

(cut to studio)
BTC: That's right. It is a Democrat problem. Because as we all know, before acts of sexual abuse are committed, it's pretty standard for the victims to ask for your voter registration card.

And while actual justice may be blind to political party affiliation, the Republican controlled Congress slightly less so.

(cut to video)
Unidentified Reporter: And at the Capitol, new word, the Clintons will provide the testimony the House Oversight Committee has been seeking. According to the former president's spokesperson, with that news coming ahead of a planned vote this week to hold the former first couple in contempt, the Clintons have not been accused by officials of wrongdoing.

(cut to studio)
BTC: That is true. The GOP has not accused the Clintons of wrongdoing formally, but they're pretty great at implying it. I'm honestly surprised that when they talk about Bill and Hillary, their whole logo isn't winking. But how does Donald Trump feel about a former president and his former political opponent getting hauled up to the Capitol?

(cut to video from Newsmax in Oval Office)
Reporter: Today we heard that the Clinton set deposition dates to testify before the House Oversight Committee. Any reaction to that and related to the asking question?

Trump: I think it's a shame to be honest. I always liked him,her--eh. She's a very capable woman. She was better in debating than some of the other people. I will tell you that she was smarter. Smart woman. I hate to say it in many ways.

(cut to studio)
BTC: Yes. Trump is truly saddened by the thing he's been constantly pushing for.

(cut to video in Oval Office)
Trump: Bill Clinton is such a big part of it. The Democrats are pushing it and the problem is that it's turning out to be the Democrats that were with and conspired with Epstein.

(cut to video from CBS News 24/7)
Host: President Trump is calling on the FBI and the Justice Department to look into the relationships between Jeffrey Epstein and a number of prominent Democrats. The names on that list include Bill Clinton.

(cut to WH lawn)
Trump: You ought to be speaking about Bill Clinton who went to the island 28 times.

(cut to studio)
BTC: Donald Trump is sad about the Clintons being forced to testify the same way Matt Gaetz was sad when he discovered the karaoke room he selected was all ages.

Now, let me be clear. I also think the Clintons should testify under oath about whatever knowledge they have in regards to Jeffrey Epstein. I mean, for God's sake, there are so many pictures of Bill Clinton on Epstein's Island, I'm surprised he wasn't the cover of the brochure.

But thanks to Congressman James Comer, chairman of the House Oversight Committee, a new precedent has apparently been set where former presidents and their families are now fair game and can be called up to testify under oath.

A precedent that some Democrats are elated by like California Congressman Ted Lieu, who said when Democrats take back power, "We are absolutely going to have Donald Trump testify under oath," Congressman Maxwell Frost of Florida said “Democrats 100% will take advantage of the president set by Republicans,” and Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren of California gave a curt response when asked about this new president by asking, “When is Trump coming?’” which coincidentally is the same thing Melania asks so she can relieve herself from being buried beneath her husband.

(cut to video)
Capitol Hill Reporter: But this issue of a new precedent was actually raised to Mr. Comer. Democrats are now saying that this is setting a precedent that in the future perhaps President Trump could be called to testify, other presidents could call to testify. What do you say to this argument about precedent?

James Comer: Oh, look, you know, it could set a precedent. I think, you know, one of the things that we're talking about today, the the video uh the the deposition will be videoed. That was never a thing until the Democrats set a precedence to to video the January 6th deposition. So now there's a precedent to do videos. This isn't about uh helping President Trump. This isn't about protecting President Trump.

(cut to studio)
BTC: Exactly. James Comer is Mr. Impartial, Dr. Neutral. Nay, Jimmy Unbiased Comer, Esquire.

(cut to video)
Reporter: President Trump's name is mentioned more than a thousand times in these documents. Why not try to get more information from him? Try to get him to testify.

(cut to video)
Comer: Well, I've not Well, I've noticed that every time you all do a gaggle like this with President Trump, somebody asked him about Epstein. So, he's been answering questions about Epstein.

Reporter: Not under oath.

Comer: Well, has Bill Clinton ever answered any questions on Epstein or Hillary Clinton? So, this is going to be a new opportunity and we'll go from there.

(cut to studio)
BTC: For James Comer, Trump has practically testified since he's lied, sorry, since he's answered so many questions about Epstein already.

Unfortunately, that's not how the law works. Because when you lie to Congress under oath, he can actually go to jail. And just quick aside, but this action of hauling former presidents and their spouses to Capitol Hill is just further proof of how Donald Trump is a glutton for punishment. Think about it. Trump could have put the entire issue of Epstein to bed the first week of his second term. He could have released the files and been done with it. As we all remember,

(cut to video)
Pam Bondi: It's sitting on my desk right now to review.

(cut to studio)
BTC: It was right there on her desk. You know, I used to think that having some leftover coffee cups on your desk was disgusting, but there's just something about having millions of pages of unreviewed pedophile material that feels even ickier.

But again, this Epstein scandal could have been over and done with for him. Somehow, he got away with having pictures, videos, emails, and pubic hair inspired birthday cards released to the public that all point to his extremely close ties with a rapist and practically every member of his Cabinet, his party, and his MAGA base shrugged their shoulders and said, "Nothing to see here."

But Donald Trump can't let things go. So now, when Democrats take control of Congress, Trump, Melania, and likely the whole Trump family will spend this president's post-presidency years having to explain themselves under oath.

But back to these truth seeking Republicans, James Comer isn't the only member of the GOP looking to rain some unbiased justice down on anybody involved with Epstein.

(cut to video)
Nancy Mace: What's happening right now where people don't go to jail for the crimes they commit because of their power, their wealth, or whomever they are, because the system is broken. None of us should be okay with that.

(cut to studio)
BTC: Damn straight. None of us should be okay with that. Especially not women running for governor and hoping to land a certain someone's endorsement.

(cut to video)
Host: Congresswoman, last question. Do you think that President Trump should answer more questions about the Epstein files?

Nancy Mace: Well, I believe he already has. I mean, he's he went to the authorities. He's the one that banned Jeffrey Epstein from Mar-a-Lago. He's been very open and very transparent. Um, and I hope that he will support the efforts of the House Oversight Committee to get to the bottom of this. And I want to see people named people named.

(cut to studio)
BTC: If there is one name you can't forget that was involved with Epstein, it's the guy who puts his name on everything.

The reality is, as Republicans haul up a former president and his wife to testify in front of Congress, and Donald Trump continues to hammer away at the talking point that this whole Epstein issue is really a Democrat problem, as the saying goes, "be careful what you wish for," because the next time Democrats are in power, Trump better check his inbox for a paperless post invite.

Trump has spent over a decade spewing lies about, well, everything. But a lot of those lies were about how he barely knew this guy. But while he may be able to lie over and over again to the American people, as someone once said, lying to Congress is a whole different ballgame.

(cut to video)
Trump: I don't think you should lie to Congress. And there have been a lot of people over the last year that have lied to Congress. And to me, that would not be acceptable.

(cut to studio)
BTC: Yes, lying to Congress, like the election results in 2020, is just something that Donald Trump cannot accept. And when Democrats get control of Congress again, they need to stand firm on making Trump testify as opposed to say back in 2022 when the January 6th Committee issued a subpoena to Donald Trump saying that he provide documents and testimony in regards to that day of harmony at the Capitol and Trump refused to comply and Democrats just did jack about it for some reason.

I truly cannot wait for the day when Donald Trump and anyone else in his orbit is forced to finally come clean to the American people. I can guarantee you if there's one thing I will not be saying on that day,

(cut to video)
Trump: I think it's a shame.

(cut to studio)
BTC: Not a chance.

This particular version had several homonyms that needed corrections.

I guess that it keeps my mind active which is a good thing.
