Mahmoud Khalil: ICE Detains Green Card Holder over Columbia University Gaza Activism

Immigration agents with the Department of Homeland Security have detained a leader of the Gaza solidarity encampment at Columbia University in New York. Mahmoud Khalil, who is an Algerian citizen of Palestinian descent, is a green card holder and is married to a U.S. citizen; his wife is eight months pregnant. Immigration officials told Khalil's lawyer his green card was being revoked. Khalil recently graduated from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs, and his whereabouts are unknown.

2. It isn't just because of "university Gaza activism. He was involved in taking over campus building, damaging those

building, and disrupting the curriculum of students and faculty at the university.

Those protests at Columbia, and its affiliate Barnard College, invaded campus buildings and distributed Hamas propaganda material on multiple occasions.

Just because he is a legal resident with a green card does not exempt him from deportation if he was involved in certain crimes.

Only if he is a U.S. Citizen would deportation be illegal.

An Anti-Defamation League survey published last month found that 83 percent of Jewish college students experienced or witnessed antisemitism since the beginning of the Gaza war, and 66% said they were not confident in their school’s ability to prevent antisemitic incidents.

and in January 2025 in Canada according to this X-post this brilliant strategist call for more October 7ths.

Note: Note sure if this is the same Khilil as the Colombia "activist" though

He has as much intelligence as the f**king hamas assholes who started this bullshit, and indirectly contributed to trump occupying the WH another four years by these protesters encouraging people not to vote for VP Harris, and encouraging others to do likewise.

Excuse me if I don't have much sympathy for this jackass, since we are now faced with a hell of a lot more problems with a SC that is lost for decades, an attack on our Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, healthcare, workers rights, women's rights, the environments, etc. etc. etc.

3. First they came for the students and teachers protesting against genocide and ethnic cleansing, but I wasn't a student

nor a teacher, then they came for the aid agencies dedicated to preventing starvation, and disease etc. etc.

Now they're coming for Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, healthcare, workers rights, women's rights, the environments, etc. etc. etc. that's because we're all Palestinians now.

There was no due process in regards to the graduate student that was kidnapped by the government as he is a green card holder.

Professor Hawley in the OP made a profound point, the blanket condemnation of a massive student (which also happens to be President Biden's base) movement held in good conscious against genocide and apartheid as being anti-Semitic did nothing but load the true anti-Semites gun.

but frankly those protesters who could vote, either voted third party or sat out the election, that was a vote for trump.

5. The feeling is mutual John. They had no warrant, they didn't even know at first that he had a green card, and nobody

knows where he is.

People generally don't vote for candidates that don't listen to their concerns, if they're condemned en masse for their conscientious beliefs, what's the motivation?

6. First of all he couldn't vote because he isn't a citizen. Second, if those en masse who could vote, and didn't, then I

WILL CONDEMN THEM AND THEIR STUPIDITY.

VP Harris made very clear what she would do.

1. Ceasefire
2. Release all hostages
3. Rebuild Gaza and back to the negotiating table for a two state solution.

trump also made it very clear what he would do.

Much of these same instant gratification groups were the same ones in 2000, 2016, and 2024.

"Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it." and while that could be argued as a double edged sword which cuts both ways, the reality is, there is a difference between republicans and Democrats, and one-issue voters will always come out with the short straw/

7. I wasn't speaking about him voting but all the students protesting against genocide, apartheid and ethnic cleansing.

I've never believed that If you're trying to sell a product or promote a candidate, that trashing the buyer or voter is the road to success.

That's an ironic sentence of "instant gratification" being the primary culprit over a quarter century, to my way of thinking there is nothing instant about that, but only long time pent up unanswered demand.
