1. He's not backtracking. It's lip service.

The criminal demolition of executive agencies will continue. The gutting of our professional, non-partisan civil service will continue. The rise of a politicized and corrupt administrative state that says FU to the will of the people as it exclusively serves the Christian Nationalist, Racist, Tech bro, billionaire class who believes it is their right to rule to advance their Un-American, immoral agendas as they line their own pockets, will continue.

Sure, maybe they squabble a bit about who does what, but this clown car cabinet and the shills installed in critical positions share a dream of a new order in which the will of the people, as expressed in our body of law, is meaningless because they have dismantled and corrupted every mechanism by which our will is executed and enforced. They share a dream of an election system so broken that our collective will is never actually heard.

Be encouraged that the power of the public's anger at what they are doing has prompted them to give lip service to notions like "using a scalpel instead of a hatchet," but we must point out the fact that these words are meaningless.

Have they unfrozen funds already appropriated? Have they reinstated vital programs like the Help America Vote Act? Have they taken a single step to reverse their criminally unconstitutional actions?

No. Of course they haven't.

And that makes it clear they are full of shit.

Any journalist worth their salt needs to stick to the facts of what they are doing, not speculate about what this performance art "curbing" means.
