From The Guardian...... Why are the Democrats so spineless? Any way here is the question. Be careful what you answer.

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2025/feb/03/democrats-opposition-trump

I tried to answer this question with my opinion, but the post was removed for not Supporting Democrats.
I have appealed the blocking by questioning why we can't challenge Democrats. I can't post to General Discussion because ONE post has been challenged.

I know there are a few. Very few IMO, & not nearly strongly enough.

I know we're the herding cats party but the cats better get their shit together cuz this looks like regime change in America & it's happening at lightening speed. IDK what they can do but at the very least every dem in congress should make public statements & comments on their websites but my three MOCs have nothing & have said nothing. Three out of three are silent as non-government persons ransack the OPM.

On edit: I saw this statement by Jerry Connolly of Virginia, yesterday but if you google "democratic response to musk & opm" you don't get any dem leadership comments.

I found this one from Senator Wyden of Oregon.

nt: Democrats tack to the right, over and over, and use traditional media like newspapers, cable news and press releases to show off their new positions and distance themselves from their own ones. Voters don’t see it; they are too busy on social media, where Republicans are deftly setting the agenda that the Democrats can only feebly follow, chasing their opponents to the right even further. The result is that the party has not advocated its own actual worldview for years: Democrats have not shown a set of social values, or a theory of governance, or anything like a commitment to principle.

Yup.

5. Yes, I've said for years that the repubs have more successfully defined our party than we have ourselves.

I thought EarlG gave permission for us to be critical of Dems right now, while the party tries to move forward.

I have met with criticism from members for calling Chuck Schumer ineffectual. The Guardian calls the party leadership ineffectual.

And here is an article from Salon, identifying how (and perhaps why) Chuck has been "playing along". I just found this article, and I am going to post it as an OP.

Are people complaining about your comments or posts because they perceive them as being doom and gloom, while in reality they are honest? I have seen an effort by some to squash the "doom and gloom" content in posts.
1) If this isn't doom and gloom, I don't know what is.
2) Their sentiment of squashing the reality in front of our face, is at the very least misguided. I think it is dangerous.

Some of us here want to try and save our democracy...let us.
