Trump putting in 'entirely incompetent toadies': Senate confirms Hegseth to lead Pentagon - The Last Word - MSNBC

Despite sexual assault and excessive drinking allegations, the Senate confirmed Pete Hegseth’s nomination as Secretary of Defense.

The Atlantic’s Tom Nichols and MSNBC political analyst Jennifer Rubin join MSNBC’s Ali Velshi to discuss the message this sends to the American public that someone whose behavior would have been “disqualifying” in any other position in the military will now lead more than 3 million military service members and civilian employees. - Aired on 01/24/2025.

4. If I was a betting person, I'd say he'd backslide tonight and then, you know, start over tomorrow.

The Repug senators own this appointment as much as Felon47. We've learned two things from this melodrama: (1) T***p is going to put the most incompetent, corrupt and obsequious people in places where they can (and will) do the most damage to the country and by extension, the entire world, and (2) with a few exceptions the Repug senators are not only accepting of this scheme, but are willing accomplices in bringing it to fruition.

The revised Republican Senator oath of office:

"I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend President Trump from all his enemies, real and imaginary; that I will bear true faith and allegiance only to Him in all matters, no matter how repugnant; that I take this obligation with fear of being primaried, without self respect; and that I will do whatever I am told to do without question. God help me."

Jennifer Rubin kicks ass. Hegseth is "an incompetent fool". I hope to see more of her on MSNBC and I will definitely be looking at the Contrarian.

Putin must be opening the champagne tonight. The most powerful military in the history of the world is now under the command of an incompetent drunk who couldn't run a small nonprofit. The Chinese, North Korean, and Iranian leadership will be celebrating tonight too. We all may be doomed. The world is in great danger.
