(673 posts)My friend lost her best friend hubby recently. My brother lost his best friend dear wife recently. We all have to do this. Sometimes they go first... other times we exit and leave them behind. Excruciating pain. But yr lucky to have lost him while Yu loved him rather than losing him and not caring. Either way it sucks.take solace in friends family pets laughter and memories .

(332 posts)and told her how I wasn't asked how I was doing after my husband died. Her response was "she didn't want to make me cry".
I truly believe that tears are a way of healing. So let your tears flow and let your husband's name be spoken. Everyone's grief experience is different ~ it's a process that we all have to go through ~ for some it's easier ~ others it's just plain hard. Becoming "single" again is hard ~ there's no one to turn and say, "Did you know...." or "Don't forget..." Remember to be kind to yourself and remember those happy memories with your loved one.

(172,895 posts)To go along the Silent Way,
Grieve not,
Nor speak of me with tears,
But laugh and talk of me as if I were beside you there.
(Id come Id come, could I but find a way!
But would not tears and grief be barriers?)
And when you hear a song
Or see a bird I loved,
Please do not let the thought of me be sad
For I am loving you just as I always have
You were so good to me!
There are so many things I wanted still to do
So many things to say to you Remember that I did not fear
It was just leaving you that was so hard to face We cannot see Beyond
But this I know:
I love you so
Twas heaven here with you!

(912 posts)And I think you found the perfect place to post. I am glad you posted and that so many saw it and responded. Its hard to be alone in our grief. I believe Grief is a little easier to bear when shared.
One year or ten, time means little to those who love and have lost their loved one. Love and Grief are two sides of the same coin and neither can be bound by space or time. We dont get over grief, we move through it, with good days and bad. When the hard times hit, its nice to know there is someone out there who cares and will listen. Even if its through a computer. DU has so many people who seem ready to do just that.
