Cannabis
Related: About this forumState to state variation.
I'm in Washington state. Started smoking again as soon as it was legal.
Since that time I've settled into a few favorites, GG4 formerly Gorilla Glue #4 is near the top.
I haven't bought out of state yet for a few reasons. But when I do will I find that flower with the same name/strain will be pretty much the same from state to state? Will there be consistency across state lines?

(11,534 posts)My granddaughters boyfriend was a commercial cannabis grower with his dad here in Michigan. He got a great city government job and had to leave the biz.
The industry would love nothing more than to have conformity across a strain. Plant 100 seeds
get 100 identical plants. Hard to accomplish. Ahh
cloning!
.much better
.however different conditions lead to slight variations in plant development even in the same greenhouse. In hybrids even F4 plants sometimes try to exhibit characteristics of the original strains. As you can see variations are completely normal.
In addition
there are numerous Seed Banks from which you can purchase the seeds to start. The different banks represent many different Breeders that supply the Bank. Each Breeder may have bred the same strain
but with their technique. So now I can purchase Gorilla Glue from a hundred different Banks from a hundred different Breeders. Its amazing that there is any consistency at all. Then we get to different Growers
seed or clone?
Their greenhouse grew both ways
started some strains from seed
some clones. Some of those clones Mother Plants from which the clones are taken are years old, Ive seen one Mom that was 7 years old. Huge plant capable of giving hundreds of clones over the years. There probably are no seeds left from which that Mom sprouted. In the intervening years slight variations may have taken place in the strain.
So it may be close
but expect some variation.

(9,636 posts)I grow GG #4 and each plant is slightly different. Thats why some growers clone when they like one variation over another.
