Characters you like better than who portrayed them?

Who is a character, or characters, from a movie franchise that you like, but you don’t personally like the person who portrayed them?

An example for me - I like Martin Riggs from Lethal Weapon, but I don’t like Mel Gibson.

2. I like the tv series Reacher better than the movie . Alan Ritchskn not Tom Cruise.

5. Alan Ritchskn is believable as Reacher, Tom Cruise is physically inadequate to be Reacher.

I’ve read some of the Reacher novels and when I heard that Cruise was going to play him, I laughed derissively.

4. Jim Garrison in JFK; Elliott Ness in The Untouchables

Both good guys played by Kevin Costner who is not, in real life, a nice guy.

But your Mel Gibson example is right on point. I also liked the character he played in the Mad Max series as well as the Lethal Weapon pictures.
