"The threat of targeted violence being faced by the Jewish-Israeli community is complex and continues to evolve; this threat will likely persist for at least the next decade," he said.
Sleeper, who is the Deputy Director of Intelligence at Secure Community Network (SCN), urged the subcommittee to develop a task force to protect the Jewish community from threats in light of the recent attacks on Jews in the US and the threats to national security. He also thanked the subcommittee for "recognizing the urgency of this issue and for taking action to make both the Jewish community and our nation more secure."
Sleeper testified that in every analytical brief since October 7, "SCN has produced has warned of rising threat [against Jews and Israelis], exacerbated by online incitement from Iranian linked groups and designated foreign terrorist organizations such as Hamas, Hezbollah, and ISIS."

People were burned with Molotov cocktails in Colorado.
Do you think its appropriate to make a joke when other Americans are targeted for death?

Your remark is similar to comments coming about recent attacks against Jews in DC and Colorado, that the Jews were, themselves, behind the attacks. It is an age-old anti-Semitic trope that anti-Semitism is actually just Jews doing it to themselves to play the "eternal victim." There is even an anti-Semitic "cartoon" for this very occasion:
Perhaps, given this is the JEWISH GROUP, you should reconsider your remark or explain yourself.

(527 posts)I certainly hope this is not the case. I was raised in a terrible evangelical environment, and I attended a small Synagogue in my tiny Michigan town as a spiritual escape from that. I am an Episcopalian now, but, I really value the many spiritual conversations with a Rabbi (who happened to be a woman) and having an open minded view to me coming in to explore my own spirituality. It sickens me that anyone on the left could be involved in these things and just the country in general.
We are really circling the drain.
