10 basic misunderstandings (lies) most believe about the war.

The Israel-Gaza war has become one of the most hotly debated and deeply misunderstood conflicts of our time.

It fills headlines, fuels protests, and floods social media feeds, yet much of the world thinks it knows what’s going on — and couldn’t be further from the truth.

This isn’t just about competing narratives, or a matter of interpretation, or too many moving parts. It’s about willful distortion, emotional manipulation, and centuries of historical amnesia.

So, let’s clear the smoke. Here are 10 of the most basic — and dangerous — misunderstandings about the Israel-Gaza war:

Netanyahu has made clear he wants to control all of Gaza, and wants to implement Trump’s plan, meaning Gaza will be cleared of Palestinians. That will involve continued death and expulsion. Edited to remove content following comments.

I am one of the hosts of The Jewish Group. I would like to inform you that this forum serves to support members of the Jewish community of DU and those who support the nation of Israel.
There is another forum on DU that exists for those who want to accuse Israel of genocide, apartheid, and ethnic cleansing. It is called Israel/Palestine. Your comments will be welcome for discussion there. They are not welcome here.

9. I am part of the Jewish community. Do you support Trump's plan to clear Gaza of its people and turn it into a riviera?

"I am ready to end the war on clear terms that will ensure Israel's security -- all the hostages returned home, Hamas lays down its weapons, its leadership is overthrown, Gaza is completely demilitarized and the Trump plan is implemented," Netanyahu said.

It doesn't matter to me whether or not you are a member of the Jewish community. If you want to accuse Israel, and the Jews that live there, of committing genocide there are more appropriate places to have that discussion.

the word genocide. Do you agree with Trump's plan for Gaza, and how many deaths do you think that will cause?

And the people who don't know, do not want to know.

Ant then, the loudest anti-Israel advocates know this, but act with complete disregard of what they know. They are unreachable.

the others quite different. Some of them are equally, if not more legitimate.

When one brings a perspective to a problem or issue, without a full open mind, inevitably there is bias.

8. The OP contains a valid perspective itself, doesn't it?

It contains many truths that other perspectives overlook or dismiss. And yes, those perspectives are quite different and far better covered in the mass and social media, By no means do these perspectives come from full open minds. And, on a rare occasion, there are perspectives that are equally or more legitimate than the present one. But those perspectives are not necessarily unbiased either, and they get drowned in the noise too.

No matter the bias, facts remain facts. You either have them or you don't. When facts are not presented, they get lost. When perceived facts get successfully challenged, they cease to be facts, bias or no bias.

There are perspectives that shut the facts out with incendiary rhetoric. And then, there are perspectives that bring those facts back to light. I would rather look at the facts, not perspectives.
