Falcons dismiss assistant DL coach LaTroy Lewis following allegations of rape while at Michigan

The Atlanta Falcons dismissed defensive line coach LaTroy Lewis from his role, the team announced Friday. His departure follows a report from Darko State News stating that Lewis had been accused of rape dating back to his time at the University of Michigan.

The Ann Arbor Police Department confirmed to multiple outlets that it is investigating sexual assault allegations against Lewis.

Earlier Friday, the Falcons stated that they were aware of the allegations and were in the process of gathering information before letting Lewis go a few hours later. The team hired Lewis this offseason as part of new head coach Kevin Stefanski's staff.

The victim, identified in the Darko State News report as "Jane," allegedly met Lewis on a social media dating platform before meeting in person in early December 2024. Lewis reportedly met Jane at a hotel under the guise of "returning property" before the encounter became allegedly violent. It was during this meeting that the sexual assault allegedly took place.
