It seems the neighborhood birds have had a good season, so far.

In the last couple of weeks I've seen the following fledglings in my front yard:

House Sparrow
House Finch
White Winged Dove
Blue Jay
Cardinal
Brown Thrasher
Downy Woodpecker
Robin

The birds (and squirrels) have learned the sound of the cover being removed from the metal pail where I store bird seed. They hear that and within minutes I have a yard full of birds (and squirrels).

I have two that are the first to come. I have never seen one before and I worked at a Bird Sanctuary for years.

In addition to the birds, I have also seen several animals in the yard, but not on a daily basis. I've seen squirrels, rabbits, skunks, opossums, racoons, toads, garter snakes, turtles, gophers and ground hogs.
