Sedona Prince, NCAA hoops star and activist, faces abuse claims
Basketball star Sedona Prince has become the face of equity in college sports a plaintiff in two high-profile lawsuits against the NCAA and a social media star who, with viral videos about weight rooms at March Madness in 2021, almost single-handedly forced the NCAA to equalize its mens and womens tournaments.
At 6-foot-7, Prince, 24, also has become a force in college basketball at a pivotal moment for the sport, helping lead TCU to its highest ranking ever ahead of the NCAA tournament next month. She has been projected as a first-round pick in this springs WNBA draft.
But as her profile has grown, Prince also has faced a string of abuse allegations, according to interviews and records obtained by The Washington Post including an allegation of sexual assault, multiple domestic violence claims and a lawsuit alleging sexual misconduct.
Some of the womens claims were first made on social media as early as 2021, and some were made to law enforcement and in court documents. The first allegation dates from 2019, The Post found, and the most recent was made to police last month.
None of the allegations appears to have impeded the ascent of Prince or TCU. Prince asked two women who later accused her of domestic violence to sign nondisclosure agreements, according to police records and an ex-girlfriend. Prince also threatened legal action against women who have spoken about her on social media, according to messages reviewed by The Post.
