Pro Football HOF class of 2025 announced

Eagles Defensive back Eric Allen, Vikings defensive end Jared Allen, Chargers tight end Antonio Gates, and Packers wide receiver Sterling Sharpe

Not making the cut: Former Packers and Seahawks head coach Mike Holmgren, former Giants quarterback Eli Manning.

Willie Anderson, Torry Holt, Luke Kuechly and Adam Vinatieri were the modern-era players to advance to the final seven without being elected, and they automatically advance to the final 15 for the Class of 2026.

Agreed. And I'm not a big Manning fan, but he definitely should be in. Wiz Imp Feb 7 #5

There are probably 2 dozen eligible wide receivers who were better and far more deserving.

I mean, how can anyone justify voting for Sterling Sharpe (595 receptions/8134 yards/65 TD) over Torry Holt (920 receptions/13382 yards/74 TD)?

His numbers are very similar to Michael Irvin who is in and he was also a #1 receiver for back-to-back Super Bowl winning teams.

Someone has come up with a statistical score to try to measure the overall success and contributions of each individual player to help determine who was legitimately the best of the best of their era. It's called the Hall of Fame Monitor. The following Receivers who are eligible but not yet inducted have higher scores than Sharpe meaning their HOF case is probably stronger:

Reggie Wayne
Torry Holt
Steve Smith Sr.
Del Shofner
Henry Ellard
Harold Jackson
Anquan Boldin
Hines Ward
Stanley Morgan
Jimmy Smith
Rod Smith's score is about the same as Sharpe's and the following guys are about the same as well
Brandon Marshall
Irving Fryar

Plus a few other whose raw stats are superior to Sharpe's (list incomplete)
Derrick Mason
Wes Welker
Keyshawn Johnson
Chad Johnson
Donald Driver
Andre Rison
Joey Galloway
