It's happening in the San Francisco Bay Area. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Comcast Xfinity sport package subscriptions are moving to higher tier pricing that will add nearly $50 to an existing cable subscription. Bay Area sports teams affected are the San Francisco Giants, Golden State Warriors and San Jose Sharks.
In addition to NBC Sports Bay Area and NBC Sports California (Giants, Warriors and Sharks), the Ultimate TV package will also includes access to major league channels for the NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL, along with over 50 other channels.

I have no idea what this pushes the cable bill to, especially if you add high-speed streaming. Over $200.00 a month? Anybody know?
Regardless, no televised Giants baseball for me this summer. No Warriors. Radio only.
I just re-subscribed to the MLB At-Bat radio subscription at the winter bargain price of $14.99 so I can catch the Guardians. That was a no-brainer.

(108,972 posts)football--and to get the local networks I can't seem to get any other way. Between it and a few minimalist streaming subscriptions, I ended up paying a LOT more than when I had cable.
And when OTA went from analog to digital, a lot of us lost almost all access to local networks given the distance and geographic obstacles to signals. Some may do better with a roof antenna but how 1970s is that?
The only winners of "new technology" and systems seem to be the greedy corporatists...

I will say that 50% of the men that come to the door are polite but the other 50% are total assholes with belligerent attitudes as they demand access to my backyard . Which we always give them, but they're still jerks. They're not very good at project management either. I can't tell you how many times our front & side yards have been painted & flagged for digging projects that never happened. My friend who lives close & drives by, calls me on the phone laughing & says, "I see the circus came to town again."

(805 posts)$83 per month just for the base package and still no a la carte options. They have become indistinguishable from cable and just as expensive.
I'll listen to my teams on the radio as long as they're still broadcasting there.

(2,259 posts)I went from 1GB internet and a tv package with far too many channels, and the Disney+ triple play for ~$350 to 2GB GFiber internet and Hulu with Live TV (with an upgrade of the Disney package to Hulu without commercials) for ~$210. The only trade off was losing access to the local RSN, but I can use a VPN on my streaming device to get ESPN+ to let me watch the local hockey team.
100% worth it.
