Related: About this forumAnyone else watch the Ecuador-Curaao game in World Cup last night?
Holy shamoley, what a defensive marvel! On both sides, really, but especially on Curaçao''s. The ball was in their backfield for what seemed like 90% of the second half, but Ecuador could not score! Could NOT, despite repeated and clever attempts. The defenders were amazing, but I am in absolute awe of Curaçao's keeper, Eloy Room, who made save after save and kept coming back for more. And despite their thrashing from Germany, they're still in and Ecuador is out! Just amazing.

OP
I caught the last half, the ref was letting them play. Funny once it was established that he wasn't calling fouls

players got right up and started playing instead of the theatrics on the ground.

(106,796 posts)3. Eloy Room equalled Tim Howard's record for the number of saves in a World Cup game
but Howard's was in a knockout match that went to extra time.
Room, the 37-year-old Miami FC keeper, produced a remarkable and record-equalling performance, making 15 saves to keep his country level and eventually secure a goalless draw which will live long in the memory of the island nation.
Since records began in 1966, no goalkeeper has made more stops in 90 minutes of World Cup action, according to Opta.
Only Tim Howard has made as many in a single game but, unlike Room, he failed to keep a clean sheet after conceding twice in extra time for the USA against Belgium in 2014.
