It is to laugh - To Laugh Often And Much - Ralph Waldo Emerson

To laugh often and much;

to win the respect of the intelligent people

and the affection of children;

to earn the appreciation of honest critics

and endure the betrayal of false friends;

to appreciate beauty;

to find the best in others;

to leave the world a bit better

whether by a healthy child,
a garden patch,
or a redeemed social condition;

to know that one life has breathed easier

because you lived here.

This is to have succeeded.

The one about taking off your bra without first taking off your shirt, the first time I did that with my husband in the car he looked at me like I was nuts. We were in the parking lot of our jobs. He kept looking around to see if anyone was watching. But when I pulled the bra down, over my hips, past the knees, and flipped it over to him with my feet I thought his jaw was gonna break, it was dragging so low. I said surely he'd seen women do this before. He told me he hadn't... it was a new idea to him! But he really did like the little flip with the foot, with the bra sailing over his head and into the backseat! (hehehe)

The one about the "missing daughter" reminded me of what my Mom actually did one year to me. Being in the Air Force, and having a new baby, I was so busy I'd not talked to her in a -long- while. I never really thought about it, actually, until I got a letter in the mail. It was addressed "To Whom It May Concern" at the office of the FBI. She wrote it as thought she was writing about an actual missing daughter... spoken tongue-in-cheek, of course. I laughed as I read it 3 x over; it was a glorious piece of creative writing, and definitely hit the mark, as intended. I immediately picked up the phone and called her, of course! That was way back around 1977. Somewhere I still have that letter. Your comic made me remember it... I lost Mom in Jan, it'd be good to find that letter and re-read it once again.

Thanks again for the great comics... especially those that are hitting really close to home these days! Needed a good laugh to close out the day!
