Related: About this forumAuthor of GORKY PARK (1981)
RIP Martin Cruz Smith. Smith's final book, HOTEL UKRAINE, was just released. Smith was named a Grand Master by the Mystery Writers of America in 2019.
He was 82 and suffered from Parkinson's Disease for several years. His children wrote: "The world knew him best through Arkady Renko ... not so much a hero as a survivor. Like Dad, he mistrusted institutions, prized observation, used humor to expose hypocrisy, and believed that truth, though often buried, still mattered."
His last book is getting great reviews.
