(30,293 posts)I am glad this honorable man received the recognition that he did. Certainly nothing from MSM.

Our leaders were were quality people, though there was the time an admiral returned a fleeing Lithuanian seaman to his ship (1) a horrible blunder. Okay, most were quality and some were spineless trash. I worked with/for honorable people, most of whom were OUTSTANDING.
It was in the service I learned the term "shit floats", (2) and isn't that entirely appropriate to the sack of shit Oompa-Loompa?

The opposite of "The cream rises". A saying used to denote that people in positions of power often got where they are through corruption and do not deserve the advantages they have.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
