Ciarn Hinds receives the Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA) Lifetime Achievement Award

Last edited Sun Mar 1, 2026, 12:13 PM - Edit history (1)

I just stumbled on this the other night and had to share it. If you are unfamiliar with Ciarán Hinds, you might look back on your movie and TV viewing and be astonished by how often he showed up in something you decided to watch.

Ciarán Hinds is a stage, film, and television actor who was born in Belfast on February 9, 1953. Here's his bio at IMDB:

I've always been a fan of him.

Once had the opportunity, after seeing him onstage in NYC, to shout "You were wonderful."

Usually don't intrude on an actor's day when I see them out and about but it was shortly after the show, after stopping by Junior's to pick up some cheesecake, and he was right there outside the theater and it just came out of my mouth before I thought about it.

He was far enough away that he just smiled and waved and I don't think I seemed dangerous to him. 🙂

But my memory is fuzzy. In fact, I remember the experience of seeing him outside the theater better than I remember the play.
