Related: About this forumMy old refrigerator was most of my electric
bill. When it died my bill went down $70 a month. And it was a smaller model without the bells and whistles. My bill went from $90 (on average payment plan) to $26.
Just in case that info helps.

(5,248 posts)Refrigerator may be the exception. Perhaps high electric usage is because refrigerators run continuously, 24 hrs per day while most heat-producing appliances run intermittently, for shorter periods.
I unplug my small heat-producing appliances- ex. coffee-maker- between uses, and turn off overhead lights when leaving a room, though not skimping on light for vision and safety's sake as necessary. (A fall from lack of light would be far more costly than an electric bill.)

They are all built now to fail years sooner so you have to then buy
another .
I had a great GE refrigerator that lasted about 25 years,
But the new ones are lucky to last 8 to 10 years

(50,697 posts)$70 a month is $2.33 per day, roughly 12-16 kw per day.
You sure it's not time of year, the heat went down because it's warmer in the spring?
