SSA comments

My check came on time, not the main thing I want to note.

I don't check the email that SS notices go to very often since my cable supplier made changes that make it harder to access. I checked it last week and saw several official looking documents that seemed to be about my SSA account. I don't click on links in email. Today, I went to the SSA site to log in and see if I had any notices. I've read on DU that people have trouble getting logged in. I couldn't get in today. Since it is the first of the month and nothing is urgent, I'll try again in a day or two.

I think all but one of the emails I want to verify are phishing or scams, which is why I want to check the site. I immediately thought that before criminals invaded SSA, I didn't get suspicious emails about my SSA account. I can't help thinking that they sold our email addresses to the highest bidder and my mail box will be full of crap every time I check it.

1. I Can't Access MySSA Either

I've never had a problem logging in before. I use Login.gov and I am able to login to other government websites today without any issues. But MySSA is not working. I have tried multiple browsers and multiple devices so it's definitely not anything on my end. I'm thinking it is likely DOGE/Elon Musk related. He probably mucked it up before he left when he was tweaking out on ketamine or shrooms.

I got a Login.gov account set up last year after using My SSA for years. I've heard that people are having trouble with the online site, and have had since criminals invaded the system. I think I logged in the beginning of 2025, when the problems started.

I got logged in ok to the main My Gov page today, but it bogged down when I tried to access my SSA account.

I am able to successfully perform two-factor authentication and then acknowledge the website terms. Then I am presented with a completely blank page which is eventually replaced with a error message. I can see that I'm technically logged in by looking at the URL, but there is nothing there.

I'm tech savvy and computer literate and so I tried every conceivable workaround to 100% confirm it's a problem on their end (cleared cache, changed browsers, used wifi, used direct connection, used cellular connection, and used multiple devices - cell phone, desktop, laptop).

I have used Login.gov to access MySSA for many years. And I have been using it multiple times a month recently to run scenarios because I have delayed taking benefits for about a year and a half and I was going to delay until at least age 64 or.65. but now I am thinking of taking SS sooner because of the idiots in charge. I would have never thought that the morons were capable of letting the forced, drastic cuts occur to SSA benefits in a few years. But I am watching in real time as they attempt to pull off the largest transfer of wealth from the poor/middle class to the top 1% and also eliminate healthcare for over 10 million people. These craven, evil, clueless twits are capable of anything and the soul of our country is so sick, I'm not sure they would even pay a price for doing it. So now I have to seriously consider taking Social Security benefits early.

I know there have been incidents since the orange turd took office where some people were having problems logging in and others were able to successfully enter the site. Maybe this is yet another one of those instances.

My earnings record, my monthly benefit

I have ignored it so far. I have not have any earnings for more than 10 years.

I received information about my monthly benefit last December and it has not changed. Unless the DOGE got there which I have not heard.

So I think that I will skip this notice. Also, I think that last time I did log I had to change the password which irritated me since I am using the same login for estimated tax, now due June 15.

and 2 or 3 others that I noticed, but didn't open to read.

If I remember correctly, the original SSA sent out an account update at the end of the fiscal year, probably required bookkeeping for them.

5. Can you do Direct Deposit?

I now check my bank account online every month to see if my check has arrived. So far, so good!

I would advise that for everyone who gets a SSA check. I used to have it mailed to me and one check was stolen and cashed at a liquor store. I was charged with an "over-payment" because the SSA issued me a replacement check. But I immediately filed an appeal. So, I get my full SSA check without a deduction for the "over-payment" because the SSA regs call for this. Still have not heard from the SSA re the appeal. At the time the SSA check was stolen, I was confined to bed with a fractured right femur and could not walk down the stairs of my home or drive. Sure, I walked down the stairs and got into my car, drove to a liquor store and PRINTED my name as the endorsement on the SSA check! I am of the age when we learned cursive writing at school. I have a very distinctive signature.

So, immediately thereafter, I used a separate, personal bank account for direct deposit of my SSA check.

Always had it for SSA.

I got emails I wanted to check, and can't access my SSA account through the My Gov portal.

I thought the gov tried to make everyone go to direct deposit several years ago. I remember the outcry about people not having a bank account, costs of banking fees being part of it.

I have a link to my bank account and that is how I check it the SSA check has been deposited. I don't go thru SSA, I use the bank site itself. My bank actually put the app on my iPhone for me.

I got my check, and balanced my checkbook online, thank you. I got notices in the email account I use to get email from SSA. I don't open links in unsolicited emails. If I get email from I place I am signed up to use, I go to the actual site and log in. The sites usually have a copy of email or notices they sent, so if the same email is on the site, I know it's a real message and not spam or whatever. I also know it's a real site, because I logged in. So far, my extreme caution has worked

I followed the same practice which you follow. Eventually, I logged into my Social Security online account, looked around, and found nothing there which merited my attention. It is immaterial to me whether the emails I received were fraudulent or not, since I had no interest in opening them.

folks are receiving from SSA. Some irregularities and erratic messaging, it appears.
