Picky cat and smelly cat wet catfood

The vet tech at the last visit suggested half a small can of wet food with a tablespoon of water for more fluid intake for my middle aged cats Dixie & Shaw.
The first 2 weeks, they both gobbled down the new food, then Dixie started showing preferences, she likes flaked/shredded wet cat food. Shaw has no preference.

Fortunately Chewy sells 'taster packs' of cat food & I found a brand Dixie likes.
Previous cats got kibble their whole lives, I did not know healthy cats could be gourmet tastes that smell so strongly.

My cats are friskies fans. We tried the more expensive, better for them cat foods, and they literally turned up their little kitty noses and tried to cover it like it was...well you get the idea.
Get them what they will eat, and everyone will be satisfied.

What ever he would eat week 1 was buried in week 2. When he passed away Cat Welfare, local cat rehome & rescue location got 40 some cans of assorted wet food.
He was a sweet tempered cat, and is missed

A few years back a Vet suggested one of the pricey science diet type of foods for my Cat who suffered kidney issues. Can't remember the brand. He would not touch it nor would any of our other healthy Cats. If fact several of them acted like it was poop and tried to bury it. I even tried to give what was left of the cans of it to the outside Cats who hang around. As hungry as they are they all ignored it.

Over the last several years I've lost much respect for Vets, at least the ones in my area. In my area their prices are exorbitant and their advice is often suspect in hindsight. For instance I was quoted over $700 to $1200 for a basic neutering of our newest Male Cat. That's insane! I was able to take him to the local Humane Society clinic and get it done for a donation of $150.

When that happens, they become part of a chain and are run like any other corporate entity, to maximize profits.

Don't know if that's what happened to your vet, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Corporate consolidation is increasing in the veterinary industry, with private equity firms gaining traction, and buying up practices. Learn who they are, how they operate and how to navigate this new terrain.

I only use spring water in water bowl. It's $1.50 a gallon
and they drink more of it than tap water. I don't drink
the tap water here because it does not smell good.
