Tried Something New Today

Made a mash-up of good old chicken soup & Chinese hot & sour soup.
Had both chicken & tofu, but I used crushed tomatoes which would be in a Chinese soup.
I pan cooked the chicken with garlic, soy, fish sauce & a little extrasalt, & i deglazed with sherry, then set aside so I could cube it already cooked.
Veggies were parsnip, carrot, celery, onion, cremini mushrooms.
Used white vinegar for the "sour".
Seasoning was 5 spice, cinnamon, allspice, red pepper flakes, white pepper.
Herbs were parsley & basil.
I didn't have to salt the base. The chicken and renderings had enough.
No measurements. Everything by eye & taste.
I thought it was really good. So did my wife
Was fast & easy.
I'd make it again.
