What's for Dinner, Sun., Feb. 9, 2025

Corn, leek, cassava root, and bacon chowder.

It's supposed to be "potato" instead of cassava, but I like cassava root better. Used fresh corn and turkey bacon. Thyme.

Crackers with olive oil/sea salt "butter."

Decaf and a date-filled Turkish cookie half.

I've got a tube of my chorizo and some flour tortillas out of the freezer. Refried beans from the pantry, cheese from the fridge and tomatillo sauce from the canning cupboard. I should get one repeat later in the week.

It's got to be quick; I have to get some sewing done for a friend. (Can I say again, I hate minky?)

The Landlady made the dough a little while ago and it's rising by the fireplace. It'll be topped with homemade tomato sauce, slices of Italian sausage, green pepper rings, onion, garlic and lots of mozarella cheese. Grated Parmesan, garlic bread and red pepper flakes on the side. I'm making a large antipasta/salad and we've got chianti in the refrigerator.

Go Eagles!

It's a work night for TJ so I'm grazing the leftovers.

Baked thin boneless chop. It is one of the last things in the freezer from my favorite butcher in the little store. They have gone out of business.
Baked sweet potato
Spinach salad

If I want more, a clementine, hummus, garlic bagel chips, and other snacks are available.

Bringing a large pizzeria made plant-based pizza over to my in-laws to watch the Super Bowl. It’s a pot luck party. Pizza has vegan cheese, mushrooms, black olives, breaded eggplant, onions and a sesame crust. Go Eagles! Cheers!

I bought a book of NYT crossword puzzles at Ollie's, just started solving them a few days ago. I saw a clue about soubise sauce, so today, I located recipes, and saw it was pretty easy. I make cream sauce often, so calling in Bechamel and softening grated onions in the butter before I made the roue was an easy step. Nice meal for a cold day

It's a Super Bowl tradition. Old habits die hard.

I hope everyone has a lovely evening!

Bon Appétit.
