Cooking & Baking
Related: About this forumI don't know if I'm alone in this practice but I wash and re-use vacuum storage bags, trim off the welded
seam, turn them inside out and wash them thoroughly, I don't like plastic waste but I'm single and a bit cheap

(219 posts)I also reuse ziplock bags if they’re not too dirty.

(9,531 posts)Never thought of putting them In the dish washer. Don’t they fly around during the wash?

(25,103 posts)once, doesn't mean throw them away. You're just thrifty. Nothing at all wrong w/ this, and you're helping our environment, by not disposing of anymore 'trash' until you're absolutely ready too. I wash my baggies out all of the time, reuse them. Now if the baggie is really yucky, and contained a meat (I don't really reuse those baggies I use to store meats in), I don't reuse, unless it's for a non-food item to store something else in the house other than foodstuffs.

(15,104 posts)I clean, fold, dry and use the next clean space. They are a bit expensive so color me "frugal"...
I don' reuse the thinner ones..

(20,406 posts)I use big zip-lock bags for the bread I bake, use them several times. Washing, then air dry. I'll store smaller used clean bags in the freezer and use them when I repack big packs of meat. I use fresh bags for each portion, and the used bags for extra protection. I try to reuse, recycle all that I can.
Thanks for posting.

(4,992 posts)They have a ziploc-style seal and a small port to pull the air out with a hose that attaches to the sealing machine.

(33,903 posts)are very expensive. We too reuse zipper lock bags. We could afford to be wasteful, but why would we?
